Janet Ban Scholarship

Details

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a grade point average between a 2.5 and a 3.0.  As a teacher in Novi Community Schools and a resident of the community, Janet was an advocate for all students.  During her time as an educator, she taught English, and Social Studies and for many years she was the teacher at the alternative high school.  Because of her work with all varieties of students, Janet was compelled to create this scholarship for the student that may have gone through some things but was figuring out how to be better.  She specifically stated that she wanted this scholarship to be about the student that persevered and overcame challenges that at one point may have impacted them in such a way that their grades were impacted.

Students receiving this scholarship are required to have between a 2.5 and a 3.0 grade point average, and must submit an essay that explains how they feel like they have overcome difficulties in their life and grown in order to persevere.
