OVERVIEW
Novi Middle School is designed to assist in making the middle school years positive and productive. Working together, we can make the years valuable and exciting ones that will provide everyone with fond memories, a high regard for education, and a love for learning. The teachers understand that in order for middle school children to enjoy the learning process, they must feel understood, secure and loved. The middle school is committed to cultivating the growth and development of the whole child in an atmosphere of caring.

GRANTS
These are grant opportunities for programs to Novi teachers, parent-teacher organizations and administrators who seek funding for additional resources that support creative ideas and challenging opportunities for our Novi students. NEF grants promote educational leadership and academic excellence. The NEF grant process encourages projects which can be developed, shared, and replicated among all the schools in the district.
The NEF awards grants annually throughout the district to fund areas that bring a new perspective or challenge to the student population.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
The NEF funded the material and training for the Middle School staff to be trained in Restorative Practices.

The behavior - not the individual person - is what's treated as unacceptable. Unlike traditional justice, restorative justice gives the victims a voice. Proactively, circles are used in order to provide a safe space to build relationships and increase mutual respect.
Restorative practices center on two main principles: strengthening relationships to build community and repairing the harmed relationships once wrongdoing occurs.

THE HANDS (MAKING)
APPLICATION
In the Middle School, the district offers STEM and Pre-Engineering classes. These courses are a part of a student elective rotation.
​
Some students which choose a full year of band, choir, orchestra or foreign language miss out of this experience because of schedule limitations.
​
To help compensate for this gap, there are many extra-curricular activities available including the FIRST Tech Challenge to engage students in STEM activities.

Novi Middle School prepares students to be lifelong learners in a diverse world by emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, and interpersonal skills. They aim to support students as they grow academically and hope all NMS students will take advantage of the extra-curricular programs such as athletics, clubs, theater and other opportunities
