TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
The generosity of NEF allowed my students' creativity and passion to come to life.
- Cary Grimm : Novi Meadows
Our schools are blessed with being comprised of a multitude of students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, yet Leader in Me provides common language that have been designed to instill "habits" in our students that will benefit their futures.
- Melissa Israel : Village Oaks
From leadership development that begins at the elementary school through Leader in Me, to anti-bullying education at the middle school through Olewus and through HAVEN education days, senior consent trainings and staff mandated reporting/harassment training; we are enhanced as a school district.
We are forever grateful for the efforts of the NEF to enhance the social, emotional and behavioral well-being of our students and staff!
- Nicole Carter : Novi High School
The kids have been able to use the outdoor learning space to learn about the world around them outside! Just this (past) week we were able to study (the) way engineers build.
- Carly Musa : Parkview
Our Novi Woods students are touched by the generosity and impact of the Novi Educational Foundation EVERYDAY. Our school's heart beats with the systemic effects of the Leader in Me curriculum. The halls, the classrooms, the activities, and the sense of family can all be attributed to a strong and established Leader in Me philosophy.

JOIN US IN SUPPORTING OUR CHILDREN, OUR SCHOOLS, AND OUR COMMUNITY
Thanks to your donations made last year to the NEF, not only were we able to preserve funding for the Leader in Me initiative in all elementary schools, but we have added Mindfulness Training for all 2nd graders in the district and Playworks at all 5 elementary schools. Last year, teachers in our district received classroom grants totaling more than $15,000. Your generous contributions also provided $19,000 in student scholarships to graduating high school seniors and $2,200 to forty-four new teachers.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Please donate! Our goal is a gift of $100 per household, but donations of any size make a positive difference. If every community member participates at some level, we will not only
preserve current programs, but also be able to add back more of what has been lost. The quality of our schools directly impacts our community, our property values and most importantly, the future of our children.
Make your tax-deductible donation to the Novi Educational Foundation by May 31.
The NEF's funding of (Restorative Practices) training to use these circles allowed us to take the first step in our RP journey. Since then we have used restorative conferencing and expanded to Olweus bullying prevention programs, also supported by NEF.
- Andrew Combs : Novi Middle School
Circle drumming is a way to build community and teamwork in the classroom, as well as work on rhythmic principles. In the circle, we all have a voice, and are invited to share through the music, but we also allow others' voices to be heard.
- Ainsley Lengerich : Deerfield/Novi Meadows
(Students) were able to dig deeper in their Project Based Learning unit on community helpers. We received valuable books and materials to help enhance student learning and allow them to build their own safe city.
- Jennifer Lessway : Village Oaks
(A) grant we received was for chapter books in some of our students' native languages. We receive many new students each year that do not speak English. We have several chapter books that go along with our reading units that students may use and read along with us in their native language. We have books that are Japanese, Korean and Spanish that helps the kids be able to follow along easier with the English version.
The way their eyes light up when they see books in their home language is amazing!
- Michelle Donberger : Novi Woods
All in all, NEF has been instrumental in helping me to implement many ideas that have grown into solid
foundations of learning. Thank you for offering the opportunity to express "my story" - one that I share with many colleagues and students - and one that would not have been possible without the great support from NEF!

NOVI IN THE NEWS
Money Magazine named Novi in 2018 as one of only two cities in Michigan from their 50 Best Places to Live in America. Our schools made a significant contribution on these rankings.
Niche.com ranked the Novi Community School District #6 of 548 school districts in the state. Why? Because of our A+ grade for our schools.
In Oakland County, Novi ranks highest in Math, Social Studies, and Science performance on the M-STEP assessment, and in the top 5 on English Language Arts performance.
Unfortunately, Michigan schools overall rank 33rd in the country according to Business Insider. A recent study determined the amount necessary to educate the average child to proficiency is $2,000 more than what our state provides.
